Muir, PA - We are seeking applications for a project focused on investigating the role of B cells in the development of rheumatoid arthritis.

The project will begin on 01 September 2024 and was published on The application deadline is 19 May 2024.

Project Description:

The laboratory of Gerhard Krönke has made significant contributions to understanding the innate and adaptive immune response in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other autoimmune diseases (including Nat Immunol 2017, J Exp Med 2017, Nature 2019, Immunity 2021, Nat Med 2022, J Exp Med 2023, Nature Our group utilizes advanced techniques such as single-cell and spatial sequence analysis, confocal and lightsheet microscopy, metabolic analysis, and high-dimensional spectral flow cytometry to address this complex topic.

Our close proximity to the clinic allows for extensive analysis of human blood and tissue samples, including longitudinal studies. Additionally, we use various murine models of autoimmune arthritis, including reporter and (conditional) knock-out strains.

We are looking for a motivated PhD student to join our team and contribute to our understanding of the B cell response in rheumatoid arthritis.

Our lab has recently made significant progress in understanding the functionality of disease-relevant B cells, both systemically and in the target tissue, in patients and murine models.

We are also involved in analyzing experimental clinical therapies that target B cells and
