The Electronic Surveillance System (ESS) Shore Team specializes in installing Access Control Systems (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Video Surveillance Systems (VSS) and many more, on various Military bases.

The Information Tech Specialist performs duties across multiple areas of information technology, such as computer hardware, server software, networking, telecommunications, computer support, database analysis, data security, and other areas of the overall IT platform / infrastructure.

Responsible for the stability, integrity, and operation of all systems by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network software, hardware, and operating systems.

Report system downtime and performance issues. Conduct analysis, including planning, designing, and evaluating a variety of information technology tools. Respond to user requests for system needs and upgrades. Manage security solutions, including firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion protection systems. Perform scheduled network tasks, update antivirus definition files, monitor network servers, and provide internet and intranet user support. Participate in IT projects to drive technological efficiencies. Career-development professional within field. Requires moderate skill set and proficiency in discipline. Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment.


In this role, you will:

  • Define the requirements, administrative processes, and responsibilities governing the Configuration Management of the systems supporting the Commander Third Fleet Headquarter
  • Maintain and execute the Third Fleet Configuration Management Plan
  • Administer the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and maintain active NAV-IDAS, SPIDER and DADMS accounts.
  • Maintain configuration standards of all C3F Command & Control assets and develop inputs to the Shore Maintenance and Modernization Working Group (SMMWG); coordinate with Operational Agents and Program Managers to provide technical strategy and baseline data points to help assess C4ISR technology; provide feedback and technical assessments; assist in providing technical assessments of C3F Command & Control technologies, their integration, and operational conditions; document and baseline technical specifications and functional considerations with NAVIFOR; identify technical issues and cost/benefit assessment for future interoperability programs including specific technical risks, migration paths, ROI, enhanced capability; and provide support for C3F C4ISR Business Plan development.
  • Serve as one of the N6 Technical Liaisons and as an advisor for Program Managers on issues of C4ISR and initiatives/experimentations.
  • Assess the cost and capability to achieve Program of Record (POR) status for all C3F Command and Control systems not currently under POR. Logistics support and sustainment options for nonPOR systems need to be identified and investigated to obtain individual warranty options or other forms of SYSCOM support in an effort to, ultimately, bring the various systems into a proper state of maintenance support.
  • Act as DISA Node Site Coordinator for multiple DISA MSPP and MPLS nodes located in C3F spaces.
As a government services employee, the Information Tech Specialist will open dialogue to support initiatives with the following organizations:

Missile Defense Agency (MDA), DISA, DoD S&T and R&D communities to include ONR, Government Laboratories, MCTSSA, DARPA, Industry, and Academia.


Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
  • A high school diploma/GED
  • 3+ years' experience performing periodic equipment inspections, tests, calibrations, preventive maintenance tasks, corrective maintenance actions to ensure Electronic Surveillance System operates as intended
  • 3+ years' experience with Audio/Video systems to include Extron components including Fox Box, Cisco Codecs and other legacy A/V components.
  • 3+ years' experience with phone systems that include POTS, VoIP, VoSIP and Secure Voice Distribution systems
  • Knowledge of Network management devices including switches, routers and firewalls
  • Experience with configuration management tools
  • Experience managing complex IT projects
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time as needed
