Description
The job of the SLPA will work under the supervision of a credentialed Speech-Language Pathologist to complete a variety of tasks such as activities designed to develop language skills: expressive, receptive and pragmatic, and to program and provide instruction in the use of assistive technology devices for communication.
Under the supervision of SLP, the SLPA will:
- Provide therapy services by following documented treatment plans and protocols developed by SLP
- Assist in preparing for SL sessions
- Document student performance (e.g., tallying data for the speechlanguage pathologist to use; preparing charts, records, and graphs), and report this information to the supervising speechlanguage pathologist. Share information with students, families, or staff
- Work in a variety of settings with a variety of students: work in the life skills classroom, students with autism and in the general education classes
