The city of Kleve is seeking an experienced and capable individual to join our team as the Technical Deputy Mayor (m/f/d) starting on August 1st, 2023.


Kleve, a town with a population of approximately 53,000, is located on the border with the Netherlands and serves as the cultural and social center of the Lower Rhine region.

It offers a high quality of living and leisure opportunities, and serves as a central hub for a surrounding area of 150,000 residents.

In the coming years, there are important tasks ahead for the urban development of Kleve.

This includes strategically developing and implementing a climate protection concept, promoting the energy transition, and gradually implementing a mobility concept.


The Department III and its associated responsibilities currently include three departments: "Planning and Construction", "Climate Protection, Environment and Sustainability", and "Civil Engineering", as well as the building management of the city of Kleve.

The incumbent will also be part of the management team of the municipal enterprise for building management (GSK). Changes to the departmental distribution are subject to change.


The position is a temporary appointment for a period of eight years, with a salary according to pay grade B 2 LBesG NRW, in accordance with the regulation on the classification of municipal elected officials, plus an expense allowance.
