    Summary


    Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting and working alongside the accounting and reporting teams, the Staff Accountant, Financial Reporting is a highly visible role that will support both full cycle accounting and reporting as well as ad-hoc projects and analysis.

    This role will support Realterm Transportation ("Realterm") and its Funds in enhancing the financial reporting process by streamlining information gathering and our process documentation.

    A successful Staff Accountant, Financial Reporting will be a strong problem-solver, adaptable in an environment that is growing and changing, a natural relationship builder, and have a self-starter mentality.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Monitor and remain informed on new and proposed accounting and regulatory developments and evaluate their potential effect on the Company and its financial statements, including but not limited to items issued by the FASB, SEC and IFRS


    Work with an international accounting and reporting organization to ensure the Company's compliance with generally accepted accounting principles by consulting on issues and through technical accounting and reporting training.

    Conduct research and analysis of complex accounting issues and provide recommendations to management.

    Perform analysis and special projects, as required.


    Build relationships and regular communication with operational leaders to provide direct and timely assistance on matters that have accounting implications.


    Complete ad hoc projects assigned by senior management, including analysis of business operations, proposed accounting treatment of significant or unusual transactions, or other accounting and finance-related matters.


    Support the external financial statement audit process by interfacing directly with audit team, managing PBC request list, and assisting with preparation of audited financials.

    Maintain working knowledge of legal entity structure to conduct VIE consolidation analysis.

    Assist with drafting standard operating procedures, accounting policies, and technical accounting memos.

    Assist with adoption of new accounting standards including research, application, and documentation of all new accounting pronouncements.

    Assist software solutions team and IT team with future enhancements to Yardi accounting software.

    Assist with internal audit process including planning and execution.

    Qualifications

    Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards

    Be organized and attentive to details

    Demonstrated critical thinking, initiative and good judgement, as well as constructive problem solving.

    Ability to meet specific schedules and deadlines

    Be able to work effectively as a team member as well as act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives

    Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results

    High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

    Yardi experience preferred

    Education and/or Experience

    2-4 years in technical accounting role, either industry or public accounting

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting

    CPA or CPA candidate a plus

    Work Environment


    The position will work in a general office setting and may require travel, up to 10% of time annually, to remote office locations based on organizational/business needs.

    Physical Demands

    Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the workday, sitting at a desk, consistently operating a computer.

    The person in this position must be able to access file cabinets and office machinery (to include a computer, copier, and fax machine).

    On occasion, may need to lift boxes of up to 10 lbs.
