Duties:


  • Serve as Psychologist with full professional responsibility for findings, interpretations, decisions, recommendations and reports.
  • Coordinate scholarly review of literature involved in complex and difficult areas of specialization.
  • Prepare reports for senior staff to use in program planning and evaluation and information dissemination.
  • Serve on inter agency committees and task forces, which are organized for the purpose of addressing problems and issues relevant to the specialized area.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train assistants in the collection, coding, and statistical analysis of data.

Qualifications:


Basic Education Requirement

In order to qualify for a Psychologist, GS-0180 position, you must have successfully completed a 4 year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major or equivalent in psychology.

Additional Qualifications
In addition, in order to qualify for a Psychologist, GS-0180 at the GS-13 level, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks:

  • serving as a psychologist with full professional responsibility for research findings, interpretations, decisions, and reports; providing recommendations regarding the development or improvement of psychology programs; designing and evaluating psychology research studies; and presenting scientific information to both scientific and non-scientific personnel.
  • You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.

  • This is a term appointment. This appointment is not permanent. If selected, your initial appointment may be any length of time between 13 months and 4years. We may exercise the option of extending a term appointment up to the 4year limit, but any extension is not guaranteed. Only the Office of Personnel Management may authorize a 1year extension beyond the 4th year. After the expiration date of your appointment, you will be separated from service even if you have competitive status as a prior permanent federal employee.
  • A oneyear probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.
  • At the supervisor's discretion, this position may offer work schedule flexibilities: telework (work from home on a regular basis or ad hoc basis but reports to the office at least once a week/two days a pay period),
