Responsibilities:
The K-12 Education Specialist position, under the guidance of the Garden's education managers, will support the coordination and facilitation of our NExT Step field trip program.
The K-12 Education Specialist will be expected to implement positive behavior management while leading nature walks and structured classroom activities.
The incumbent will assist with scheduling field trip facilitators and maintaining the booking calendar for field trips and self-guided tours while communicating with teachers and administrators.
Lastly, the K-12 Education Specialist will be responsible for preparing supplies required for field trips and communicating to the Manager of K-12 Program when supplies are low.
Salary & Compensation:

Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills (written and verbal) (required)
- Availability on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. (required)
- Proficiency in writing, editing and proofreading varying types of English text. (required)
- Knowledge of pedagogy and best practices in environmental education. (preferred)
- High level of organization and attention to detail. (required)
- Ability to walk on trails, traverse stairs and uneven terrain, and lift up to 50 pounds. (required)
- Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures. (required)
- Experience leading and teaching groups of students. (required)
- Clerical experience relating to scheduling. (preferred)
- Knowledge of local (Los Angeles County) birds, plants, wildlife, and California natural and cultural history encouraged. (required)
- CPR/AED and first aid certification. (preferred)
Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:
- Associate's Degree Associate degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (required)
- Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience/training (preferred)
