Job DescriptionFor our location in Babenhausen, we are currently seeking a graduate student or master's candidate (m/f/d) to join our team for approximately 6 months to work on the topic of "Generating optical functional surfaces using mathematical methods for application in head-up displays". It is recommended to complete a 1-3 month internship before starting the thesis to familiarize yourself with the subject matter.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Optimizing an optical component using mathematical methods for efficient illumination in head-up displays (HUD)
- Designing the component surface, taking into account the optical function and minimizing loss surfaces
- Integrating the optimized component surface into an existing Zeemax simulation model of the HUD
- Comparing the optical efficiency and tolerance sensitivity of the optimized component surface with existing solutions
- Creating a prototype and testing the lighting properties in a real HUD

Your Profile
- Student in the field of Applied Mathematics, Optical Technologies, or a related field of study
- Programming skills in Matlab and Python
- Basic knowledge of optical simulation (e.g. Zeemax)
- Proficient in MS Office programs
- Good written and spoken German and English skills
