Remote rate:
$ $43.80 per hour


NYC in-office rate: $ $48.24 per hour

Background


The Office of Prevention and Health Initiatives (OPHI) is charged with proposing new policy and programs emphasizing primary and secondary prevention efforts.

This office oversees initiatives targeting populations across the lifespan, with the goal of advancing a robust and comprehensive prevention agenda.

The office also works to consider and address social determinants of mental health that are increasingly recognized as critical to overall health and wellness.


Through its "Mobile Farmers Markets for New Yorkers with Serious Mental Illnesses" program, OPHI is sponsoring a novel intervention to promote the skills, access, and affordability of farm fresh produce for residential clients with serious mental illnesses.

OPHI is seeking a temporary, part time (20 hours per week) Research Associate with experience or knowledge of qualitative research to support the evaluation of this food insecurity intervention.

The Research Associate will support evaluation activities as the program expands to additional sites in summer 2024.

Applicant can work fully remote but must be able to travel to locations within NY State.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Submitting research protocols to the IRB
  • Developing interview guides
  • Conducting audio‐recorded interviews with clients with serious mental illnesses like schizophrenia, as well as housing agency staff members
  • Coding and analyzing the qualitative data using Dedoose
  • Writing manuscripts for submission to peer‐reviewed journals
  • Pilot testing the collection of data on dietary quality among clients with serious mental illnesses
  • Some travel within New York State is required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with major course work in an appropriate behavioral health, public health, social sciences, or related field; and

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or currently enrolled in a program that will lead to Master's degree
  • Experience using Dedoose to code and analyze qualitative data
