The Institute of Geobotany at Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) in Lattimer, PA is seeking a Scientific Employee (m/f/d) with a focus on Entomology / Plant Protection (pay grade 13 TV-L, 65%) starting on March 15, 2023.

The position is project-based and will be limited to 10 months. The workload is 65% of the regular working hours.


Responsibilities


The project is part of the joint project "Startling, Attracting, Mapping and Selective Control of Pest Insects using Mobile LED-Laser Combination Traps" and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) as part of the Innovation for Horticulture 4.0 program.

The main tasks of the sub-project at LUH include:

  • Establishment and maintenance of long-term cultures of selected pest insect species, natural enemies and host plants
  • Literature research on biological plant protection and current cultivation methods and lighting techniques in vertical farming
  • Investigations on the attractiveness (catchability) and informative value of LED traps under the influence of different lighting scenarios in vertical farming


The successful candidate will be employed at Leibniz University Hannover and will be part of a highly motivated interdisciplinary project team at the Laser Center Hannover and various companies (DHLicht, Götting KG, iotec GmbH).


Qualifications
The prerequisite for employment is a completed university degree in agriculture/hort
