Brandeis University is seeking an Assistant Dean of Education and Learning Innovation to envision, develop, and execute strategic plans related to education and learning innovation to achieve the mission and goals of the Division of Graduate Professional Studies and Brandeis Online.

The Assistant Dean will lead the design, development, and implementation of credit, non-credit online, and life-long learning programming that targets students at all stages of their learning journey and prioritize student high-quality learning experience, engagement and overall student success.

This individual is also responsible for directing the development, implementation, quality assurance and evaluation of programs.

They oversee and support the growth and daily functions of all education departments at Rabb:
Summer School, Pre-College Programs, BOLLI, Faculty Services and Student Experience.


This includes overall planning, approval, administration, and assessment of online programs offered through Brandeis Online in collaboration with the University's schools, and is responsible for the quality of all online educational offerings.


Key Responsibilities:


Program Development (30%)- Collaborate with academic departments and faculty to design and deliver high-quality online programs and courses that promote student engagement, learning, and success.- In collaboration with faculty and program chairs, defines and promotes program vision, mission, and opportunities to drive competitive success and differentiation of online programs.- Create a learning model for Brandeis Online and Rabb that fosters innovation in modality, structure, and pedagogical approach.- Establish and maintain consistent program development processes, data collection system and standards for high-quality online courses, leveraging proven best practices, design standards, and industry methodologies focused on learner outcomes.- Oversee a learning design and development strategy that enables Brandeis Online to scale and build new online programs as well as enhance the quality of existing online programs.- Analyze program design and development to determine processes optimization and/or enhancement.- Collaborate with Library and other departments to implement course and faculty development services.

Collaborate with marketing to expand new programs and learning opportunities, expanding enrollments among diverse learner populations etc.- Collaborate with the student services team to monitor and improve learning experience and value for students and faculty.- Encourage and build mutual trust and coordination across teams and with academic leaders to achieve high quality results.


Leadership (20%)- Supervise, oversee and support the growth and daily functions of all education departments at Rabb: Summer School, PreCollege Programs, BOLLI, Faculty Services and Student Experience.- Lead and monitor personnel needs, productivity, culture and performance evaluations for the educational departments and their functions.- Lead, motivate, and develop the team to realize divisional, sub-team, and personal goals.- Develop and refine infrastructure processes seeking continuous improvements, innovation, and optimization.- Establish a strong partnership with matrix oversight of the Learning Design function.- Collaborate and monitor internal and external partnership to ensure quality and sustainability of educational services.- Manage the budget for all educational programming (credit and non-credit) within Rabb and Brandeis Online.


Learning Model Development and Implementation (20%)- Establish and communicate clear standards and expectations for online course development and teaching excellence, incorporating best practices in online pedagogy and student engagement.- Lead efforts to develop and implement processes for evaluating course/program development and faculty performance to ensure courses, programs and instructors are meeting Brandeis Online's teaching and course quality standards.- Oversee the collection and analysis of teaching-related feedback to assess course/program and faculty effectiveness, identify areas for improvement.- Create a mechanism to provide constructive feedback and support in the course/program development process and to faculty members to enhance the teaching/learning experience.- Oversee the development and implementation of courses, programs, and faculty, ensuring resources to support innovative teaching practices.
