The Department of Thermodynamics of Actinides is seeking a doctoral candidate (m/f/d) in Geochemistry of Actinides for a three-year position starting on March 1, 202- Doctoral Candidate (m/f/d) in Geochemistry of Actinides


Job Description:


  • Investigating the impact of surface precipitates on the retention of actinides and fission products by mineral phases relevant for nuclear waste disposal
  • Characterizing changes in sorption behavior and its reversibility at the molecular level
  • Conducting batch sorption studies
  • Utilizing modern analytical methods such as surface Xray diffraction or luminescence spectroscopy
  • Microscopic studies using electron and atomic force microscopy

Expected Qualifications:


  • Completed university degree in chemistry, geochemistry, or a related field
  • Knowledge in the area of aqueous chemistry of metal ions, specifically actinides
