REQ Student Engagement & Instruction Librarian (#392)

(one-year contract, fixed-term)

***The University of Southern California (USC) Libraries (Los Angeles, CA) seek an innovative, service-oriented librarian to join the Teaching, Learning & Research Engagement team. Reporting to the Head of Leavey Library & Student Engagement, the incumbent will facilitate orientation and engagement events and provide instruction services for the diverse user communities of USC. The position will be on-site at the University Park Campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Reporting to Head of Leavey Library & Student Engagement, the Student Engagement & Instruction Librarian will:

  • Facilitate new and ongoing student engagement and orientation programs including the Leavey-based Study On program
  • Reimagine existing partnerships with the campus community to collaborate on engagement programming
  • Conduct assessment of outreach activities to determine impact and effectiveness
  • Provide instruction and research consultations for undergraduate general education program, including in writing (WRIT150), core literacies (CORE), and general education (GESM) classes, and other instructional collaborations as needed
  • Collaborate with Teaching & Learning Department to support instruction in Libraries which may include assisting in planning instruction symposium and updating online teaching materials
  • Participate in general reference services
  • Engage in activities aimed at enhancing services and resources in alignment with the USC Libraries' commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and antiracism
  • Provide evening and weekend service as assigned; position will be onsite at the University Park Campus

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strong commitment to public services and usercentered reference and instruction in an academic library setting
  • Experience using information literacy standards and frameworks to facilitate meaningful and usercentered instruction
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team within a culturally diverse user community of faculty, students, and staff
  • Desirable qualifications:_
  • Demonstrated experience with student engagement and student success programs
  • Proven ability to develop and implement curriculumbased instructional services
  • Familiarity with emerging issues and technology related to instruction, student engagement, and reference

FACULTY APPOINTMENT RANK AND SALARY

Rank:
Contract Librarian

This position is full-time on a fixed-term, one-year, non-continuing appointment contract. This is a 12-month full-time position. The annual base salary range is listed below and in accordance to rank.

  • Contract Librarian $76,000$81,000
