The district of Wesel on the Lower Rhine is a modern service administration and one of the largest employers in the region with approximately 1,700 employees.


The FD 51-3 (educational counseling) is responsible for supporting parents and other legal guardians in fulfilling their parenting responsibilities, as well as being a direct contact for adolescents and young adults within the jurisdiction of the district of Wesel.


We are currently seeking a Social Worker, Social Pedagogue, or Special Education Teacher (m/f/d) as a Therapeutic Specialist for the counseling service for parents, adolescents, and children in Xanten, starting as soon as possible.

This position is part-time, with a workload of 19.5 hours per week, and the location of work is Xanten.


The initial employment will be for a period of 2 years, with the intention of converting the position into a permanent employment relationship starting on December 1, 2024.


Your responsibilities:

  • Counseling for children, adolescents, parents, and families
  • Psychosocial and developmental assessments
  • Therapy with children, adolescents, and families
  • Separation and divorce counseling
  • Caserelated collaboration and discussions with other institutions
  • Parent groups and group work with children
  • Promoting parenting in the family (lectures and parent evenings)
  • Collaboration with childcare facilities, family centers, etc.
  • Mandatory counseling according to § 156 FamG
  • Representation of the counseling center in local committees, networks, and working groups
