Duties:


This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated 23-June-2023.

As a IT Specialist (APPSW/SYSANALYSIS) at the GS some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Analyze functional and technical requirements of proposed or existing IT systems to determine avenues of development or modification necessary to meet mission objectives
  • Leads the implementation and deployment of the software solution. Identifies potential risks and develops mitigation strategies to address them.
  • Proactively monitors project risks, implements risk management plans, and takes corrective actions as necessary.

Qualifications:


  • You may qualify at the GS13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Proficiency in programming languages and related web technologies, such as: Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, C++, PHP.
  • Experience using multiple hosting platforms, such as: Windows, Linux, VMware, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Amazon cloud computing platforms.
  • Use Project Management principles and practices in order to develop or assess Project Management Action Plans;


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
