Position Summary:


  • The Department of Political Science in the School of Social Sciences at UC Irvine seeks a motivated, flexible and adaptable selfstarter to provide analytical support and customer service to the Manager, Chair, faculty, students, researchers, programs, and initiatives. As a member of the School of Social Sciences, the incumbent is tasked with upholding and exemplifying excellence in the University's core competencies

  • As Analyst of this highly productive and influential department, responsibilities include: financial administration to include reimbursements, purchases, stipends; contract and grant proposal preparation and submission; primary administrator for the graduate program; textbook ordering and database management; academic year and summer course scheduling coordinator; academic personnel administration of hires, merits and promotions; employment and salary administration; departmental website maintenance; event planning and orchestration; customer service pertaining to daily administrative operations for faculty, staff, students and visitors in the Department of Political Science. This position is eligible for hybrid/remote work.

  • The expected pay range for this recruitment is $ $34.84 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $ $48.86 (Hourly Rate).

  • 13 years of applicable experience working for an organization
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and diplomatically with all levels of staff verbally and in writing.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to multitask with demanding timeframes.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience analyzing and organizing complex information and the proven ability to produce clear, comprehensive and complete reports based on that analysis.
  • Skills in service orientation, organization, active listening, and critical thinking.
