Wayne County has a full-time opportunity for a Grant-Funded Clerk II in the Wayne County Public Defender's office, which is located in the Wayne County Courthouse in Honesdale.

The daily office hours are 8:30-4:30 with 1 hour for lunch (35-hour week).

You will be under the direction of the Wayne County Chief Public Defender and Public Defender Office Manager.

You will be responsible for performing various duties including, but not limited to:


  • Answering phones, scheduling appointments, drafting and filing of documentation utilized in Court, as well as copying clients on all documentation relating to cases.
  • Coordination of evaluations and phone consultations between inmates of Correctional facilities and professionals, to include Attorneys, Doctors, Case Managers, and assisting inmates with home plans.
  • Accepting, Processing, and copying Case Discovery materials.
  • Filing, organization, scanning, and maintenance of client files both physically and digitally.

Qualifications
Position requires a High School diploma or equivalency diploma with experience that includes basic computer and general office equipment. Some College and knowledge of the criminal justice system and or social work is a plus, but not necessary.


Special Requirements


Due to the nature of the Public Defender's Office you will be dealing with individuals on a daily basis who may become upset, angry and or emotional at times.

The confidentiality of clients must be strictly adhered to.


Pay:
$ $14.25 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
