Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center; named for two Medal of Honor recipients - Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter - provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia's Veterans.

This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across three nursing units.

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) is recruiting for a full-time Housekeeper/Porter for the shift of 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm.

This position will work a rotating weekend schedule and will be required to work holidays.

Summary of Responsibilities

Maintain applicable sanitation requirements to prevent the spread of infection and ensure cleaning equipment is in working order.
Ensure facility is kept clean by dusting, mopping, sweeping, damp/wet mopping, polishing, scrubbing, vacuuming, removing trash and biohazard waste. Staff members are responsible for completing daily assignments and will receive cross training in all other areas of Environmental Services to provide assistance as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience in housekeeping services required.

Additional Considerations

Experience working in a longterm care facility or hospital preferred.
Experience stripping and waxing floors, extracting and bonnet cleaning of carpets.
