ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
  • Maintains and cares for school and District grounds.
  • Provides leadership for a three to five person crew and serves as the primary driver of crew truck and trailer.
  • Leads the crew to carry out the directives of the Department Supervisor.
  • Builds relationships with and among crew members.
  • Provides immediate oversight of daily tasks and crew responsibilities and reports any issues and provides regular updates to Department Supervisor.
  • Duties include: cleaning up leaves, plant debris, trash, mowing grass, trimming bushes and trees, inspecting playground areas for safety concerns, maintaining sprinkler systems, maintaining athletic fields and leading and directing crews to satisfactorily perform the same duties under Department Supervisor's directions.
  • Maintains landscaping equipment, and routinely checks vehicles used by crew. Reports any issues to Supervisor.
  • Leads special projects such as erosion control and sprinkler installation and other projects as assigned. May mix chemicals for weed control spraying. Reports any issues to supervisor.
  • Operates hand or motorized lawn mowers and other associated lawn equipment.
  • Sets up and line (chalk or paint) fields for sports.
  • Due to the potential for access to confidential information, it is absolutely mandatory that this position safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of the information stored and discussed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:


  • Possession of valid driver's license required.
  • Must be able to work around grasses, trees, plants, common fertilizers.
  • Ability to pass background and reference checking as stipulated by District standards.
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Bilingual ability is preferred.

  • Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions with environmental noise.
  • Moving about on foot with mínimal rest.
  • Operate and inspect landscaping equipment.
  • Raising or lowering objects from one level to another from lbs.
  • Frequently utilize 10 pound backpack
  • Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force or towards the force.
  • Frequently required to position body to perform maintenance duties by bending body downward and forward at the waist often requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
  • Occasionally ascending or descending ladders using feet and legs or hands and arms.
  • Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching on narrow slippery surfaces.
  • Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
  • Clarity of vision at various ranges up to 20 feet including observing an area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
  • Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are.
  • Exposure to the following environmental conditions including weather, moving mechanical parts, electric shock, vibration, extreme heat, noise, and toxic chemicals.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-Time Position - 12 months Monday - Friday, 8 hours a day.


SALARY CLASSIFICATION:
Appropriate salary placement on the Classified Hourly Salary Schedule.


EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by Site Administrator and according to District Policy.
