Your tasks
  • Maintenance, care and propagation of forest stands in the city area
  • Combatting forest pests
  • Reforestation of areas or establishment of new forest stands
  • Construction, maintenance and repair of forest paths
  • Execution of timber harvesting and measurement and sorting of raw timber
  • Maintenance and care of machinery
What qualifications do I need?
  • Completion of 9th grade of secondary school or
  • Completion of 10th grade of secondary school type A or
  • Completion of intermediate school leaving certificate or
  • Completion of the academic part of the technical college entrance qualification or
  • Completion of the full technical college entrance qualification or
  • Completion of the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur)
Training process
The training lasts a total of 3 years.
Practical part
  • In the technical department of the city of Bochum
  • Vocational school classes take place at the vocational college in Arnsberg
  • Inter-company training courses take place in block form in Neheim-Hüsten
  • The city of Bochum also collaborates with other forestry offices, which allows for inter-company training opportunities
