Class Definition:


GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

To protect Army and Air National Guard installations, military personnel, civilians and property against all hazards and threats of trespass, theft, fire, espionage, sabotage and damage; to provide base defense by patrolling on foot, or in a patrol vehicle in accordance with command standard operating procedures to maintain security, law and order, and to do related work as required.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the general supervision of a superior security forces member, from whom assignments and instructions are received in detail or in outline form; work may be reviewed during shift assignments and upon shift completion for efficiency and methods of performance.


SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Usually none.


Illustrative Examples of Work Performed:


To protect Army and Air National Guard installations, military personnel, civilians and property against all hazards and threats of trespass, theft, fire, espionage, sabotage and damage.

To provide base defense by patrolling on foot, or in a patrol vehicle in accordance with command standard operating procedures to maintain security, law and order.

To control the entry and exit of civilian and military personnel, vehicles and other equipment at entry points to the installation(s).

To maintain order, provide crowd control and maintain order at various events and activities occurring on military installations.

To detain individual suspects, their vehicles and potential evidence per established federal and state laws and command standard operating procedures.

To conduct searches of individuals and vehicles at points of entry, and as needed, throughout the installation, per established legal and command standard operating procedures.

To conduct building searches throughout the installation per established legal and command standard operating procedures.
To gather information and report suspicious activities of individuals and groups of individuals.

To execute, perform and comply with tactical and operational force protection measures and standards, to protect the installation against all threats of attacks by individuals, insurgent groups and other enemies of the United States.

To direct motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic in military installations, and monitor and control parking.

To implement, monitor and control evacuation procedures at military installations during times of fire, bomb threats, or other natural and man-made disasters.

To investigate and report accidents occurring within military installations.
To enforce standards of conduct within the installation, per established command guidance and standard operating procedures.
To remain on duty, when so ordered, or until properly relieved, and pass on special instructions and pertinent information.

To utilize computers, intrusion detection equipment to monitor and maintain installation security and facilitate secure communications with senior security personnel and law enforcement agencies.

To do related work as required.


Required Qualifications for Appointment:


KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES:
A working knowledge of the techniques and procedures commonly utilized
to protect Army and Air National Guard installations, military personnel, civilians and property against all hazards and threats of trespass, theft, fire, espionage, sabotage and damage; a working knowledge of the fundamentals commonly used in providing base defense; a working knowledge of patrolling tactics, techniques and procedures, utilized on foot, or in a patrol vehicle in accordance with command standard operating procedures; a working knowledge of response procedures which are used against threats and emergencies; a working knowledge of security procedures utilized on military installations to control the entry and exit of civilian and military personnel, vehicles and other equipment at installation entry points; a working knowledge of tactics, techniques and procedures used to maintain order and provide crowd control at events and activities occurring on military installations; a working knowledge of the techniques and procedures used in detaining individual suspects, their vehicles and securing potential evidence, per established federal and state laws and command standard operating procedures; a working knowledge of search techniques involving individuals and vehicles at points of entry, and as needed throughout the installation, in conformance with federal and state laws; a working knowledge of investigation procedures and the capacity to report accidents clearly and concisely within the jurisdiction of military installations; a working knowledge of installation force protection measures used to protect military installations; the capacity to gather information and clearly report suspicious activities involving individuals and groups of individuals; the capacity to direct motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic within military installations, and monitor and co
