The mio42 GmbH, in collaboration with the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, is developing the so-called "Medical Information Objects (MIOs)", the digital solution to urgent problems in healthcare communication. We standardize the medical content of electronic patient records, allowing for seamless exchange between medical practices, hospitals, and various stakeholders in the healthcare system, as well as patients. This ensures that relevant health information, such as vaccination status, is uniformly available to all parties involved. With this, we are making our contribution to improving patient care through digitalization.

Who we are


The mio42 GmbH is a subsidiary of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV). The KBV is the umbrella organization of the 17 regional associations of statutory health insurance physicians. It organizes comprehensive and locally-based outpatient healthcare and represents the interests of contracted physicians and psychotherapists at the federal level.

Your responsibilities


  • Develop our MIOs in collaboration with our medical professionals, terminologists, and FHIR engineers
  • Collaborate with our FHIR engineers and terminologists to develop automations for creating FHIR instances, terminology checks, and implementation guides
  • Utilize and further develop our reference implementation, see MIO-Viewer project
  • Test and validate our MIO specifications through additional reference implementations
