    Job Description

    Under the supervision of the Center Director, this position involves providing technical training instruction in Truck Driver skill competencies, such as Basic Operation, Safe Operating Procedures, Advanced Operating Procedures, Vehicle Maintenance, Non-Vehicle Activities, State License Preparation, Basic Computer Skills, Customer Service Skills, and Job Preparedness.

    Additionally, the role includes offering administrative support as needed, participating in planning and coordinating student activities, engaging in promoting the organization's mission and initiatives, and working towards achieving its goals.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Including but not limited to the following):

    • Conducting classroom instruction using various techniques like small group and individual training on a daily basis.
    • Developing and integrating skill competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans; demonstrating effective teaching methods.
    • Providing job preparation, resume writing, interviewing techniques, and job retention instruction.
    • Conducting skill informational sessions for prospective and new applicants.
    • Utilizing dynamic instructional approaches and multimedia tools to enhance training.
    • Maintaining a professional, well-organized, and engaging learning environment.
    • Interacting positively with students, coworkers, and supervisors to set a good example of expected behavior.
    • Conducting individual advising sessions and motivating students for greater achievement.
    • Evaluating students' progress and conducting follow-ups as needed.
    • Coordinating guest speakers and industry tours to enhance employment opportunities.
    • Maintaining relations with Industrial Advisory Board and Technical Team members.
    • Collaborating with staff to assess student and program needs.
    • Maintaining attendance records, student files, and preparing training materials.
    • Researching, evaluating, and ordering books, aids, and equipment.
    • Planning and coordinating special projects and program events.
    • Attending staff development trainings and maintaining technical skill knowledge.
    • Ensuring organization, safety, and reporting any hazardous conditions.
    • Responding to safety, security, emergency, or disaster situations as needed.
    • Performing other program-related duties as required.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

    • Knowledge of modern technology and field-related terminology.
    • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate training effectively.
    • Knowledge of computer operations and various software programs.
    • Knowledge of safety standards in the trucking industry and operations.
    • Exhibit sensitivity to a multicultural student population.
    • Ability to work under pressure, exercise flexibility, and maintain confidentiality.
    • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Ability to prepare and present reports, analyze system data, and develop creative solutions.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE*

    The ideal candidate must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, at least three years of industry experience, education, and training in the subject area they are teaching, and experience working with diverse populations.

    LICENSE/CERTIFICATES

    A valid class A driver's license is required for this role.

    CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK

    Criminal background checks are mandatory for all instructor applicants to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    The role involves varied physical activities like standing, sitting, walking, and using tools and equipment, along with vision requirements and lifting capabilities.
