The Bavarian State Opera in Redwood, TX is seeking a full-time intern for the 2023/24 season in the field of dramaturgy.

We are looking for a passionate individual with a strong interest in opera, dramaturgical work, our program and its focus areas, music theater education, youth music theater, and special formats.

The ideal candidate should also possess team spirit and enthusiasm. This position offers an invaluable insight into all artistic and organizational processes at the largest German opera house.

Responsibilities:

Conducting dramaturgical research and gathering information for all areas of dramaturgical work
Writing and proofreading artist biographies using Theasoft
Editing texts
Creating subtitles (with production dramaturges) during rehearsals for new productions and changes in repertoire
Assisting with introductions during repertoire performances
Supporting print and online publications
Assisting with the management and maintenance of the dramaturgy inbox
Conducting research and archiving work
Attending all artistically relevant processes, rehearsals, meetings, and appointments

Qualifications:

Degree or recent completion of a degree in a field relevant to opera work, or equivalent qualifications through practical experience
Some professional experience
Interest in opera and its repertoire
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Resilience, teamwork, organizational skills, and ability to work independently
Proficiency in English
