Position Purpose
The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor has the primary responsibility for protecting the food by supervising QA Technicians to effectively implement food safety and quality procedures and meeting all regulatory, customer, and GREAT KITCHENS FOOD COMPANY requirements.
Key AccountabilitiesThe QA Supervisor is responsible for implementing and monitoring food safety and quality assurance procedures and ensuring operations is in compliance with best practices for food safety and quality.
The QA Supervisor reports to the QA Manager and provides leadership directly to their team (exempt and/or non-exempt).Responsibilities
Responsible for meeting all applicable food regulations (international, national, state, and local)
Responsible for complying with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (i.e. BRC, SQF)
Responsible for supporting the HARPC Team in the implementation of an effective Food Safety plan focused on the elimination of biological, chemical, physical and economically motivated hazards from our foods.
Responsible for documentation, control, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) including procedures, records, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)Works to maintain the safety, legality and quality of each food and the processes used in their manufacture.
Responsible for meeting and exceeding customer requirements
Works to reduce customer/consumer complaints for foods manufactured on site using root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventive measures
Responsible for the day to day management of the Quality Assurance Technicians including training and development of team and clear identification of objectives to meet the Facility needs
Reports food safety and quality issues, corrective actions, and preventive measures to the QA Manager
Authorized to hold and release product based on food safety or quality nonconformance
Participates in daily food evaluation to identify possible defects and provide direction for improvement
Participates in physical Facility inspections on a weekly basis and reports are generated on each area (pest control, operational methods, maintenance for food safety, sanitation, personnel practices, etc.)
Trained as backup for QA Manager as technical representative for customer and third party Facility audits
Responsible for assuring materials are received from GREAT KITCHENS FOOD COMPANY approved suppliers and conducts raw material supplier performance monitoring
Other duties may be assigned and QA Manager is expected to effectively manage and execute changes

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Effective work ethic and good communications skills
High School Diploma, some college science courses or experience in the food industry preferred
Training in HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) preferred
Good writing, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Detail oriented, and possess strong computer skills
Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level
Required
Supervisory and effective communications skills
Bachelor of Science Degree or sufficient experience in the food industry
Training in HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points)
Trained in a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard such as BRC or SQF
Basic understanding of microbiology
3 years food industry manufacturing or quality experience including supervisory experience
Good writing, mathematics, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Proficient in computers including spreadsheets, statistical programs, and D365 applications
Preferred
Minimum of 5 years comprehensive food processing, food safety and quality experience with an extensive background in manufacturing food industry, HACCP, USDA, or FDA preferred
Previous experience with GFSI, BRC, SQF and/or USDA audits desirable
