Job Summary:


The Department of Economic Security, Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) strengthens Arizona communities by bridging and minimizing gaps to employment and independence.


This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Across our many agencies, boards, commissions, many State employees participate in the State's Remote Work Program and are able to work remotely in their homes, in offices, and in hoteling spaces.

All work, including remote work, should be performed within Arizona, unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.


Job Duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Timely and accurately creates and amends client service and agency authorizations requested by VR staff using various subsystems. Conducts research on the authorizations. Reviews unpaid authorizations with VR Staff statewide and based on the review will amend or close authorizations. Amending involves adjusting funding and units on authorization lines.
  • Analyzes, researches, and resolves authorization issues, which may require using data from subsystems, IPE, invoice checklists, and other sources.
  • Receives, researches, and reconciles authorizations. Ensures receipts are received and accounted for Client Purchase Agreements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of State and federal laws; rules, regulations, agency policy and procedures relating to procurement and payment of provider and client invoices.
  • Knowledge of basic math skills and accounting principles, techniques, and practices.
  • Knowledge of various automated systems.
  • Knowledge of various programs requiring specialized invoicing and services.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles.
  • Knowledge and skill of Word and Excel software.
  • Skills in Analytical, research, computer skills, interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, problem identification and resolution, skill in comparing financial codes for accuracy.
  • Skill in providing quality customer service.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing; perform math computations, compare codes, figures for accuracy, identify and resolve problem invoices, review authorizations and invoices.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Selective Preference(s):

  • High School diploma or GED
  • One year of accounting experience
