Essential Duties


Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, underwriting, and making credit decisions on individual consumer loan requests within the Bank's credit policy guidelines.

May use an automated credit decisioning tool or traditional underwriting to determine acceptability of loan requests. This position also prepares and evaluates consumer loan documents ensuring they are accurate, complete, and compliant.

Review and analyze credit reports, applicable ratios (i.e. debt-to-income; loan-to-value), and other supporting documentation in support of underwriting decisions. Verify employment status & income levels against information provided by applicants.


Compose accurate and easily understood messages to consumer loan officers and others if additional information is required to finalize underwriting decisions.


Request payoffs quotes from other financial institutions, communicate with financial institutions for payoff follow up, maintain payoff sources log; generate Loan Estimates and Closing Disclosures, ensure disclosures are sent to customer, accurately disclose loan information.

Prepare consumer loan documents and verify information required for settlement and notifying appropriate team members of any deficiencies. Order appraisals, communicate with appraisers, review appraisals and automated value models. Generate Loan Estimates and Closing Disclosures when appropriate. Track and verify compliance data including but not limited to HMDA.

Generate and manage monthly/quarterly reports for department or senior/executive management as appropriate


Adhere to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies.

Stay abreast of any changes in underwriting provisions in Bank credit policy


Qualifications
High School Diploma. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.

A minimum of 3 years of underwriting experience.

Working knowledge of loan documentation, appraisals, and applicable consumer regulations including HMDA, TRID, etc.; Strong analytical skills including analyzing complex data; Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to interact with all levels of the organization; Good organizational, problem solving and analysis skills with the ability to meet deadlines and multi-task; Basic Microsoft office skills
