Insurance Verification Specialist


The Insurance Verification Specialist at Prince William Surgery Center is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage and benefits to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement for medical services.

This role involves interacting with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to gather and verify insurance information, resolve billing discrepancies, and ensure timely processing of claims.


Responsibilities:


  • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to scheduled procedures or appointments.
  • Obtain and update insurance information, including policy numbers, coverage limits, and preauthorization requirements.
  • Communicate with patients to explain insurance coverage, copayments, deductibles, and any financial responsibilities.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers and billing staff to resolve insurancerelated issues and billing discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of insurance verification processes and outcomes.
  • Follow up with insurance companies to track claim status, denials, and appeals as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling patient information.
  • Collaborate with other administrative and clinical staff to facilitate a smooth and efficient patient experience.

Required Skills:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in healthcare administration or medical billing preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance verification in a healthcare or medical setting.
  • Knowledge of insurance plans, billing codes (CPT, ICD10), and medical terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, insurance representatives, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
USPI complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce.
