Job Summary:

Advising Assistant aids in an Advising center.

The Advising Assistant will perform the following job duties:


  • Send communications for targeted groups of students
  • Assists with event setup
  • Provides support to students and the team
  • Help students on ASSIST and in person
  • Assists with other administrative duties

Additional Information:


  • FWS is a needbased, federally funded program.
  • FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal workstudy eligibility as determined by the financial aid office.
  • FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
  • The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a GateWay Community College student registered for 6 or more credit hours and received financial aid eligibility.


Desired Qualifications:


  • Must be enrolled in GateWay Credit classes and have unmet financial need, per FAFSA Guidelines.
  • Must be able to sit or stand and use computer prolonged periods of time. Position is physically comfortable; sitting walking, standing, lifting etc.
  • Student must be willing to work at GateWay 18th street or GateWay Central City Campus.
