The Department of Prehistoric and Early Archaeology (VFGArch) at the Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Anthropology is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Excavation Technician to join their team as soon as possible.

VFGArch conducts research projects primarily in the Rhineland and Mongolia. They have various collaborations with the LVR State Museum in Bonn and the LVR Office for Monument Preservation and publish several series of publications.

Your responsibilities:
  • Conducting archaeological research excavations of various eras, primarily in the Rhineland and Mongolia,
  • Prospecting, pedestrian surveys, and field excavations,
  • Providing technical instruction and guidance to students and staff,
  • Organizing and preparing for excavations, including obtaining permits and quotes for technical equipment,
  • Post-excavation work, such as creating excavation reports and 3D models,
