The Study (Theory and Practice):


Study:

The midwifery program provides the professional and personal competencies necessary for independent and comprehensive midwifery activities in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

The study period comprises at least 2,200 hours, spread over seven semesters. The Jade University closely coordinates with the University Medical Center Oldenburg. Joint courses are planned, such as with the University Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Oldenburg Hospital.

In addition, the existing Clinical Training Center at the university will be expanded so that future midwives can also train their practical skills there.


Practical Training: 2,200 hours, including

- at least 23 weeks of placement in the delivery room (competency area: pregnancy and childbirth).
- at least 7 weeks of placement in the gynecology and obstetrics ward (competency area: postpartum and breastfeeding).
- at least 12 weeks of placement in cooperating practices (freelance midwife and/or birthing center).
- at least 2 weeks of placement in cooperating hospitals (neonatology).
- at least 2 weeks of placement in the central operating room (gynecology - surgery and diagnostics).


Degree:

The dual midwifery program concludes with the award of an academic degree by the university and includes a state examination to obtain the permission to use the professional title "midwife".
