The Workers' Welfare Association is one of the six leading associations of social welfare in Germany. Due to its history and social-political self-conception, it is a welfare organization with a special focus. The AWO Kreisverband Berlin-Mitte e. V. is one of the largest providers of social work in Berlin, with over 400 employees in approximately 40 facilities.

The AWO Kreisverband Berlin-Mitte e. V.

is currently seeking educators* for the social care of children and adolescents for our women's shelters for women* affected by violence and their children**.

This is a permanent position with a weekly working time of 30 hours (part-time) to 39 hours (full-time). Due to conceptual reasons, this position can only be filled by a woman*.

Job Description:

Observation and recognition of possible traumatic effects of witnessing domestic or partner violence between parents
Creating a framework for processing any experienced physical, psychological, and sexual violence
Dealing with conflicts between mother and child
Providing emotional support for children through conversation
Recognizing and addressing child endangerment
Applying for assistance within the framework of the Social Code Book VIII (e.g. assistance for education and training)
Collaboration with the health department and child and youth health services
Regular meetings with children, potentially establishing participation structures (children's parliament)
Initiating and, if necessary, referring children to therapy measures at other specialized institutions in Berlin
