    Position: Staff Accountant

    Program/Department: Finance

    Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

    Work Location: 151 Lawrence Street, Brooklyn, NY - Hybrid

    Hours: Full Time - 35 hours per week

    Salary Range: $65,000 - $70,000

    Position Summary:

    The Staff Accountant reports to and assists the Accounting Manager and is responsible for back office accounting functions, Cash Receipts entry, Corporate Credit Card Reconciliation, Accounts Payable Reconciliation, assist in payroll entry , and preparation of the fiscal year-end schedules for auditors' review. The Staff Accountant ensures that the organization is in compliance with all applicable accounting procedures and standards Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and with BCS's commitment to strong internal controls.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare fiscal year-end reports and schedules for auditors' reviews
    • Partner with Senior Accountant in the preparation of various financial documentation
    • Review & assist in the Corporate Credit Card reconciliation & approval process
    • Cross-train to serve as a back-up for other positions in the agency's Finance Department, particularly in the area of payroll processing and accounts payable.
    • Collect and maintain collection of monthly, quarterly and annual reports
    • Develop relationships with key operational contacts, both internal and external
    • Other tasks as may be required

    Qualifications Required:

    • BS in Accounting - new grads are encouraged to apply
    • Demonstrated ability to gather, interpret and use data to create reports; strong Excel skills required (Pivot Table)
    • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills and great attention to detail required
