JOB GOALS:


To administer health services to students and staff according to District policies in the absence of the Nurse or Health Office Assistant.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one of the following: Emergency Medical Technician Level 1 course with a passing grade; or Medical Assistant course with passing guide; or threecredit hour college course in First Aide with passing grade.
  • Knowledge of and adheres to all policies, regulations and rules.
  • Ability to work well with students, staff and parents; good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality of records and communications.
  • Ability to accept limitation of responsibility; ability to follow protocol when administering care.
  • AZ State IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
    TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:As needed

REPORTS TO:
Principal, School Nurse, and District Substitute Specialist

COMPENSATION:
$112 per full day and $56 per half day ($145 per full day and $72.50 per half day if Registered Nurse)


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Prioritize and deliver first aid and emergency care to students and staff according to District policies.
  • Administer medications per parent consent and District guidelines with an understanding of possible side effects.
  • Perform special medical procedures (i.e. asthma treatments, diabetes monitoring, injection of epinephrine for severe allergic reactions).
  • Perform special health care treatments as delegated and demonstrated by parent.
  • Perform and assist nurse with student health screenings of vision, height/weight, dental, pediculosis and scoliosis.
  • Document student and staff treatments and parent interactions.
  • Prepare and maintain health records; maintain confidentially.
  • Understand CPS reporting protocol and communicate with nurse in appropriate situations.
  • Organize and maintain health office.
  • Complete accident reports clearly and concisely for all accidents.

The employee is frequently required to move about the campuses and to drive to the schools and departments in the District.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
