Healthcare Planner II - GIS Specialist


The Innova Group is a Healthcare Planning Consultancy with offices and staff in Austin, Boston, Charleston, Charlotte, Chicago, Colorado Springs, Dallas, Minneapolis, Nashville, and Tucson.

Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.


Salary Range:
$80,000-100,000


  • Utilize GIS software (ArcGIS) to create, edit and maintain GIS geodatabases, services, layers, and maps.
  • Performs spatial and location analysis on geographic data to support project development and decision making.
  • Assess and analyze client data, such as patient population (geocoded or aggregated), utilizating spatial statistics, network, and location analysis.
  • Interface and complement data team analysis.
  • Analyze, forecast, and display findings to support project requirements.
  • Demonstrate growing expertise utilizing healthcare planning metrics and emerging trends to define operational requirements (space and staff).
  • Support development of complete healthcare planning documentation for regional service delivery, functional programming, and facility planning.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor Degree in one of the following programs: Geography, GIS, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Planning, or other data/analysis intensive major.
  • 5 years of GIS experience (Data and Graphic Side)
  • Problem seeker/problem solving skills.
  • Team player
  • Ability to create/communicate relevant solutions to complex problems.

Technical Skills Desired

  • Knowledge of geospatial analysis techniques such as the use of map overlays, buffering, filtering, map algebra, spatial statistics, network analysis, location analytics, and geovisualization.
  • Knowledge of cartographic design principles and standards.
  • Ability to write, modify, and read Basic level SQL Queries.
  • Ability to write, modify, and read Basic Level Python Scripting.
  • SQL: base proficiency (data, query/table development, etc.)

  • Graphics capability, able to portray data/analysis in a visually.
  • Business Intelligence Tools
  • Tableau
  • Power Bi
  • MS Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel (intermediate proficiency
  • Pivot tables, complex "if" statements, conditional formatting)
  • Computer Experience (Hardware / Software / Etc.)
  • Experience Related to Healthcare

Location/Benefits/Travel


This position is being offered out of our Austin office located 9442 N Capital of Texas Hwy Arboretum Plaze 1, Suite 325.

Austin, Texas Benefits include paid vacation, healthcare, health savings account, 401K, and profit-sharing. Some travel is required for this position, as this position will have client facing interaction and responsibilities.
