The training to become a landscape gardener typically takes three years and culminates in a certification exam.

Like many apprenticeships, the landscape gardener program follows a dual system, meaning that training takes place both in the company and at a vocational school.

In addition, specialized training is provided through external training programs, such as learning how to use a chainsaw, work with natural stones, or operate construction machinery.
