ROLE SUMMARY


Reporting to the Vice President, Staffing, the Director, Credentials play a crucial role in achieving the Alliance's mission and goals by providing solutions to ensure compliance with educators' credentials at all Alliance schools.

He or she will work closely with the Staffing and Human Resources Operations teams, directly interface with many of our current and prospective educators, and provide exceptional customer service to our school leaders.

The Director of Credentials represents Alliance to key external partners, including our local county office of education (LACOE) and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), which partner with teacher preparation programs to determine educator eligibility for certification.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In partnership with the Vice President, Staffing, establish the vision, goals, and strategy necessary for ensuring all Alliance Educators maintain appropriate certification._
  • In partnership with the VP, Staffing determines and executes credential policies for the network
  • Sets strategy for ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal credential guidance
  • Develops and executes strategy to maintain staff compliance with charter oversight monitoring
  • Serve as the Credential Expert for Alliance's Current and Future Educators_
  • Identify, review, maintain, and evaluate proper credentialing/NCLB/ESSA qualifications required of new and current educators
  • Attend credentialing/NCLB/ESSA workshops at state and county levels to maintain knowledge of credentialing/NCLB/ESSA requirements
  • Serve as a credentialing expert to the Human Resource and Staffing teams, guiding the following topics:
  • Review of school Master Schedules
  • Serve as Alliance's representative to credential agencies, the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), California Department of Education (CDE), Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), and California Charter Schools Association.
  • Provide Training and Guidance_
  • Advise and inform prospective and current educators of requirements for state and federal educational credentials and permits
  • Correspond with prospective and current educators about requirements and educational courses for certification/NCLB/ESSA, upcoming examination dates, and updates from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) or the California Department of Education (CDE)
  • Provide workshops and orientation sessions for newly hired educators on policies and procedural changes affecting credentials, certificates, permits, and NCLB/ESSA changes.
  • Collaborate with Staffing Managers on credentialing processes, program recruitments, and notification of credential program eligibility
  • Develop and lead training on credential requirements. Assist with new hire orientations and when onboarding new teachers as necessary
  • Provide Direct Credential Support_
  • Ensure Alliance educators meet proper credentialing/NCLB/ESSA requirements
  • Provide direction and oversight of the Manager of Credentialing and Induction who aids in providing direct service to new hires and current staff
  • Ensure new hires have appropriate credentials for their assignment: review credentials, transcript evaluation, and experience verification for salary placement and issuance of offer letters
  • Maintain personnel records with required credentials/NCLB/ESSA qualifications and CLAD/BCLAD certifications held, obtained, or maintained following CTC rules
  • Provide credential expertise for charter authorizer oversight visits; prepare reports and credential audits for all Alliance schools and the Alliance Board
