Research Assistant Position (f/m/d):

Field of work:
Optimization with partial differential equations and variational inequalities. The successful candidate will have expertise in modern optimization methods involving partial differential equations.

This includes a strong interest in non-smooth coupled systems and data-driven approaches (such as machine learning) for modeling and optimization, as well as experience in variational problems related to mathematical image processing or nonlinear inverse problems.

In addition to analytical skills, proficiency in developing and implementing numerical solution methods is essential.

Desired qualifications:

We are seeking a highly motivated and exceptional researcher with a strong academic background and a PhD in mathematics.

Previous experience in the aforementioned fields is required, along with a willingness to take on interdisciplinary projects.

Additional experience in independent research during a postdoctoral phase is preferred, as well as a strong knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

Optimal control with partial differential equations,

- (Quasi-)Variational inequalities and their optimal control,

including experience in using computer-aided methods to solve these problems. The selected candidate will be expected to publish their research in international peer-reviewed journals, present their findings at international conferences, and provide support to students at WIAS working on related projects at the
