The Institute for Clinical Genetics provides care for individuals and their families with genetically inherited diseases. Genetic diagnostics and research are carried out using state-of-the-art methods. Our main areas of focus are understanding the causes of intellectual developmental delay and researching brain tumors.


We are currently seeking a full-time, fixed-term
Bioinformatician for a period of 18 months, to join our team at the Institute for Clinical Genetics under the supervision of Prof.

Dr. Evelin Schröck.


In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and validating additional bioinformatics software for the evaluation of polygenic risk scores (PRS), structural changes, deletions, and duplications.

You will also work with existing software tools, develop and validate your own bioinformatics workflows for automated analysis of next-generation sequencing data, and utilize complex databases.


Your responsibilities will also include independently processing high-throughput data, analyzing clinical high-throughput data to create clinical reports, and establishing and applying for your own projects.

You will also be expected to produce your own publications, collaborate on joint publications and project proposals, and take on project management responsibilities while working collaboratively with the team.


Your profile:


  • Completed university degree in biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, or a related discipline
  • PhD preferred
  • Practical experience in analyzing nextgeneration sequencing data (e.g. targeted resequencing, RNA-Seq, exomeSeq)
  • Knowledge of common programming/scripting languages (e.g. Java
