Description
Responsible for managing the instrument department personnel and ensure that instrument sets are processed according to written procedures. Manage all aspects of the department staffing and supplies. Monitor customer requirements to ensure expectations are met; manage departmental schedules; ensure technicians are trained and perform quality work.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Assure all instruments trays are complete and assembled properly.
  • Ensure Instrument Technicians adhere to written procedures and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members as needed.
  • Ensure that Instrument Technicians complete the proper transactions when processing sets to maintain quality work.
  • Monitor soil sort personnel and instrument technicians to ensure that customerowned instruments returned within Synergy Health linens and instrument sets are tracked and returned to the customer.
  • Manage instrument department office functions, addressing customer service issues, resolves problems inhouse and customer based.
  • Manage staff schedules, time and attendance and perform counseling and reviews.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and PPEs necessary for department.
  • Develop working relationships with end user/customer.
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Instrument Supervisor has direct supervision for all Instrument Technicians and other members of the instrument department.


WORKING CONDITIONS:


Work is performed in a fast-paced indoor production area with little exposure to dust and high temperatures; moderate exposure to excessive noise; climate-controlled environment; and controlled access.

Frequent exposure to bio-hazardous materials and strong odorous chemicals or elements.


EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 3 years of instrument experience is required. Accredited instrument processing certification is required.


EDUCATION:

College degree is preferred. Equivalent work experience may be substituted for educational background. High School diploma or GED required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:


  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of general and laparoscopic instruments.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time and work effectively under pressure.
  • Detailoriented, excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal and telephone skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, be flexible, multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
  • Capable of communicating and coordinating with multiple departments, team player.
