Description
Supervise and guide residents through daily routine/schedule utilizing the program's Behavior Modification Program.

  • Counsel residents in appropriate living, social interaction, self care/personal hygiene and related skills; crisis intervention counseling as needed, which may include using passive restraint techniques.
  • Prepare meals and monitor/direct resident behavior and appropriate food selection during meals; utilize food and supplies according to inventory procedures.
  • Document and chart resident performance and behavior, compile statistics and other documentation of resident performance and behavior.
  • Participate in and guide resident participation in recreational therapy and creative art therapy exercises and activities; assist in planning of such programs.
  • Communicate with staff both in writing (Communication Log) and verbally as to daily situations and occurrences; update progress notes regarding individual residents; extract appointments from the Appointment Calendar to list in the Communication Log (overnight shift).
  • Perform emergency drills as needed.
  • Drive residents to medical, dental, and other professional appointments.
  • Monitor resident movement to and from school trips, and to and from earned privilege utilization by residents.
  • Perform duties in accordance with program policies and procedures; utilize all inventory and supplies/equipment program possessions as appropriate.
  • Maintain agency standards regarding confidentiality, quality, and productivity.
  • Serve on staff committees as assigned and/or approved.
  • May supervise and assist residents in and selfadministration of medications as appropriate.
High School Diploma/GED required.

Associate's Degree in Human Services or related field with one year of related work experience is desired; however, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to the cultural differences present among the agency's service population.
  • Must have at least forty hours of training per year to include Medication Administration, CPR, First Aid, Passive Physical Restraint, and Crisis Control Techniques.
  • Previous counseling experience, preferably with adolescents.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately.
  • Must have valid driver's license, which meets the requirements of the agency's insurance carrier.
