SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Mechanical Technician assigned to Dust Collectors will primarily do routine inspections on all plant dust collectors as well as dye checks, bag replacement, and maintenance as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs monthly inspections of dust collectors
- Performs maintenance on dust collectors
- Performs dye checks and bag replacement of dust collectors
- Replace air pressure gauges, belts and magnahelics on dust collectors
- Performs general clean up duties in work areas
- Work with environmental department as required
- Work with outside vendors
- Assist with maintenance repairs and plant turnarounds as needed.
- Complete work orders with accurate information to be kept for environmental purposes

REQUIRED MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
One to three months job related experience preferred.
- Communicate in person or by radio minimum of 8 hours per day. Ability to operate maintenance trucks, forklifts and aerial lifts (standard and automatic). Ability to work days or nights as required during equipment outages. Ability to use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required. Climb up to 60 feet above ground on ladders and catwalks. Lift 75 lbs. three times per day, floor to waist level. Walk/stand on uneven ground, walkways and catwalks throughout the work day. Climb ladders, steps, and inclined walks minimum of 6 hours per day. Carry 50 lbs. minimum of 50 feet, 5 times per day. Basic knowledge of the plant process and equipment repairs.
Work requires walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting objects that occasionally weigh up to 50 pounds, and working at heights of up to 350 feet.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Job hazards include frequent exposure to dust, noise, dirt, fumes, heat, cold, poor ventilation, and exposure to all weather conditions.
