Position Overview:
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to support the needs of residential construction projects.
- Identify and evaluate potential vendors, negotiate contracts, and maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Manage the procurement process from purchase order to delivery, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of materials and supplies.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and other stakeholders to forecast material requirements and develop procurement plans.
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and industry developments to inform purchasing decisions and mitigate risks.
- Analyze inventory levels, lead times, and supplier performance to optimize inventory management and reduce carrying costs.
- Oversee the processing of purchase orders, invoices, and payments in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Implement costsaving initiatives, value engineering opportunities, and alternative sourcing strategies to achieve budgetary goals.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and vendor agreements, and prepare reports for management as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in residential construction.
- Proven track record of negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and achieving cost savings.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software/systems.
- Knowledge of construction materials, building codes, and industry standards.
- Certification in purchasing (e.g., Certified Professional in Supply Management, Certified Purchasing Manager) is a plus.
