Description

The Federal Cartel Office is an independent competition authority within the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. The place of employment is Bonn. We employ approximately 450 employees, half of whom have a legal or economic background. Our task is to ensure fair competition.

For several years now, we have been focusing on the fundamental changes in the economy brought about by digitalization.

In addition to a large number of antitrust proceedings in the digital economy - including abuse proceedings against leading internet companies - we use our powers in the field of consumer protection to examine digital business models.

In all these areas, we work together with the European Commission, state cartel authorities, and foreign competition authorities. We are also currently building the first purely digital register in Germany with the Competition Register.
