Summary
Jewish Family & Children's Services of Southern Arizona (JFCS) is seeking a volunteer/community outreach coordinator to join our team.

JFCS is a nonprofit, non-sectarian behavioral health agency that provides specialized therapy, counseling, and social services to the greater Tucson community.

For over 80 years, JFCS has helped thousands of children, families, adults and seniors regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, age, or ability to pay.


The Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for maintaining JFCS volunteer database, actively expanding a newer volunteer and intern base and facilitating the process of recruiting, onboarding, and matching them to the needs of JFCS Refugee Resettlement clients.

Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for promoting JFCS refugee resettlement program to the Tucson community, as well as developing community relationships with organizations that aide refugee families and the program mission.

Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator must be passionate about refugee resettlement work.

This position plays a critical role in helping families to ensure a safe transition to stability, promote self-sufficiency, and assist with goal attainment.


Responsibilities

  • Implement an effective community engagement strategy for the benefit of the community and JFCS clients. Community engagement includes general support of JFCS mission and clients, financial and inkind donations, by communitybased groups, including but not limited to individuals, businesses, civil society, and faithbased organizations.
  • Keep the Tucson community informed about JFCS, the refugee program and volunteer opportunities.
  • With direction from the Director
  • Refugee Services, cultivate relationships with local organizations to promote the program.
  • Collaborate with JFCS staff and board members to amplify messaging about JFCS' work and how community members can support refugees.
  • Meet with community members, deliver presentations, and represent JFCS at local meetings.
  • Plan and implement events and opportunities that foster deeper connections between newcomers and volunteers.
  • Recruit, screen, interview, and train volunteers and interns.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping of volunteers' data in Better Impact is updated and use this information to accurately track and manage volunteer time.
  • Help respond to inquiries from community members related to volunteer opportunities, community outreach events, inkind donations, and other related inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Prepare for and facilitate orientations and community information sessions for the recruitment of volunteers and interns.
  • Provide administrative support and documentation throughout the volunteer recruitment and onboarding process.
  • Participate in staff meetings and other community meetings related to program.
  • Assist with the collection and distribution of inkind donations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Social Work or a related field OR 35 years of case management experience
  • Minimum two years' experience in refugee resettlement work preferred
  • Bilingual in Russian/Ukrainian highly desirable
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically in a multicultural setting and with limitedEnglish proficiency speakers
  • Ability to communicate effectively through a thirdparty interpreter
  • International work or study experience and second language abilities a plus

Pay:
$23.00 per hour
