Description

With over 16,000 students and 3,800 employees, the Technical University of Braunschweig is one of the leading technical universities in Germany.

It stands for strategic and performance-oriented thinking and action, relevant research, dedicated teaching, and the successful transfer of knowledge and technology to the economy and society.

We are committed to promoting family-friendliness and equal opportunities.

Our research focuses on mobility, engineering for health, metrology, and the city of the future. Strong engineering and natural sciences are our core disciplines, closely linked with economics, social sciences, education, and humanities.

Our campus is located in one of the most research-intensive regions in Europe. We work successfully with over 20 research institutions in our neighborhood, as well as with our international partner universities.

Responsibilities:
The use of biologically based materials is of great interest for many applications due to sustainability reasons.

In lightweight construction, biobased materials are increasingly being used - in addition to the matrix, this also includes natural fibers for fiber-reinforced composites.

However, these are currently problematic for large-scale use, as they are only limited in storage due to moisture absorption and often have poor adhesion to the matrix.

In this project, targeted nanoparticles and nanomaterials will be developed to improve the properties of natural fiber-reinforced composites. This includes encapsulating the natural fibers - it is known from literature that nanolayers can strongly suppress moisture absorption - and ensuring a strong adhesion to
