The city of Essen is looking for several Social Assistance and Benefits Officers (m/f/d) for the Department of Social Affairs and Housing in Thompson, ND.

For existing civil servants, there is the possibility of being transferred to a civil servant position, taking into account the North Rhine-Westphalia career regulations.
The tasks can also be filled by two part-time employees, each with half of the regular weekly working hours.
In coordination between the part-time employees and the department management, coverage of core working hours and individual tasks must be ensured.
The working time arrangement for part-time employees must allow for the use of a shared workplace.You will strengthen the team in social assistance and benefits according to the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act in the following tasks:
- Conducting contact interviews with those seeking help and authorized representatives, providing personal advice and determining the respective need for assistance, in particular income and asset verification
- Processing and deciding on assistance under the Social Code XII (SGB XII) outside of facilities
- Processing decisions on assistance under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act (AsylbLG)
- Examination and pursuit of claims as well as processing of appeals and complaints
