WHAT IS THE WAGE & INVESTMENT (W&I)DIVISION?**Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas:W&I Service Centers Brookhaven Accounts Management

The following are the duties of this position at the full working level.

  • Identifies potential and actual problems and probable causes. Researches a variety of issues, gathers pertinent statistics or information, reports findings to higher level employee, and may recommend corrective action for aspects of a program or function.
  • Monitors, reviews, and evaluates operations and interrelationships with other functions regarding workflow, work redundancy, or systemic problems and report findings to higher level employee(s).
  • Verifies completeness and accuracy of controls to ensure compliance with established procedures and formats.
This position has career progression.

If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses.

For example, you may be hired as a GS-05, but if the position has career progression to GS-11, then you may move from a GS-05 to a GS-11 in as little as three years.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. (Birth certificate showing birth in the U.S; _Unexpired _U.S. Passport; Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization; or Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen (Form FS240))
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation, including a FBI criminal history record check (fingerprint check).
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. These documents must be

Qualifications

:


  • Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to fulltime work; parttimework is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume.
  • You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:

  • You may qualify with a combination of education and experience equivalent to one year of fulltime employment as defined above.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-6

:


You must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal Service.

Specialized experience is experience that is in or related to this position and provided you with the competencies to perform successfully the duties of this position.

Examples of qualifying experience may have been gained by performing clerical and technical work in support of management and/or program analysis functions which may have included identifying potential and actual problems and/or probable causes; researching specific issues; gathering pertinent statistics or information; monitoring, reviewing, or evaluating operations and interrelationships with other functions in regard to workflow, work redundancy, or systemic problems; revising procedures, controls, etc; and preparing memoranda, preliminary reports, and charts showing recommendations or findings.


  • You must meet the following special requirements: Applicants must be a qualified typist with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute (based on a 5minute sample with three or fewer errors). Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by selfcertifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for three years. We may verify proficiency skills of selfcertified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test.
