Position Overview:

_Join us at Yu Ying as an Early Years Atelierista and ignite the creative sparks in our young learners An Atelierista is a teacher with an arts background who works closely with the children in the atelier (art space) focusing on producing art through different mediums as they recognise that children have many languages of expression and thousands of ideas.

In this way, the expressive and poetic languages become part of the process by which knowledge is built.

At Yu Ying, the atelierista will implement, develop the program through art, literacy and science for PreK and Kindergarten learners.

As an expert in arts education, the atelierista will expand the ideas of young learners through materials and media, explorations of nature, and stories.

Essential Responsibilities, including but not limited:

  • Work with learners on creative experiences using a wide variety of media to encourage ideas, exploration and questions.
  • Help learners express themselves in as many ways as possible while teaching new skills and concepts.
  • Support ongoing PreK and KG learning projects and groups while facilitating a system to introduce and explore art materials, science, nature, and stories.
  • Elevate the visibility of learners' ideas and theories through documentation.
  • Integrate PreK and KG art, literacy and science standards which stimulate learners to grow creatively, socially, emotionally and intellectually.
  • Inspire teachers, parents and the school for the creative ideas of young learners.
  • Expose learners to a variety of art media that allow learners to explore and create in ways that are openended.
  • Create literacy and visual art experiences for learners that allow them to experience the joy of language and art with selfexpression while enhancing their selfesteem, fine motor skills and creativity.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor degree in early childhood education and/or visual arts education.
  • Demonstrated experience in either an early childhood education setting and/or a visual arts.
  • Experience and understanding of the playbased, hands on, and exploratory approach to early childhood education.
  • Demonstrated experience with early childhood (ages 3 to 6) learners as a teacher, atelierista, or specialist working directly with learners, teachers and families.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in the development and delivery of learning experiences and provocations for early childhood learners.

Terms of Employment: 10** month schedule

Working Environment: In-school. The role is based on-site and will grow to include another campus, which will result in interaction with students, parents and staff.
