Description

Reflex Aerospace is seeking a candidate to assist in the development of a star tracker that will be integrated into an intelligent satellite structure in Indian Hills, CO.

The structure will be created using additive manufacturing and will include displacement sensors to measure any displacement caused by thermal or mechanical stress.

The main focus of this project is to use the sensor data to improve the precision of the position and attitude estimation of the star camera.

The candidate will be responsible for conducting a proof of concept study to demonstrate the effectiveness of data fusion in improving attitude control.

Requirements:

  • Research and evaluation of commercially available NewSpace (constellation) Star Trackers.
  • Development of performance specifications to be achieved.
  • Investigation of existing structures with integrated sensors and applicable algorithms.
  • Identification of suitable opensource star tracker software that can be implemented with minor modifications and performance tradeoffs.
  • Research and evaluation of relevant hardware, particularly the camera.
  • Implementation of the chosen opensource software or development of a custom solution, depending on the results of the tradeoff analysis.
  • Development, simulation, and verification of algorithms using tools such as Matlab, Python, C/C++, or other suitable software.
  • Creation of a test bed that includes a camera, displacement sensor, controlled heater, and artificial image for testing and validation purposes.
